DVD Writer

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

Though it was not something I was overly worried about, I was happy to find a DVD writer on my new computer. I have not used it much, but it did come in handy once. I am glad to have it, and I know I will end up using it more and more in the future. The only problem I had with the one on my computer was the time it took to record a forty-five minute movie. It took over two hours, which did not make it very convenient. However, I can’t complain. It did a good job, and that is what counts.

When you buy a DVD writer for your computer, you can probably find something that is faster than the one that I have. However, you should keep in mind that though you may want the process to go faster, there is a lot of information on a DVD, and it will take a lot of time to get that information from your computer and onto a disk. The speed of the DVD writer you get may just depend on how much money you want to spend, and what type of computer that you have.

HD Television in Houston, Texas

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

“So what’s the big deal about HD television?” many people ask. Well it’s really quite simple. Remember those old 8 track tapes many years ago? The sound quality was o.k., but then came compact discs and the sound was great. HD television is very much like that. The picture clarity is superb to standard definition television.

The amounnt of “dots” that is required to fill up a HD television is immensely more than the required “dots” to fill up a standard televsion. The end result being a more sharper almost three dimensional picture. In addition, the color is so much more richer and deeper that many people have exclaimed that the picture on their HD television is much more vivid than even looking out their window on a sunny day.

Most people though have difficulty comprehending such a dramatic difference until they actually see it for themselves. The best way to describe the difference is when I looked at Discovery Channel HD and saw a snake. On my standard television the picture was pretty good, but on the HD televison I could see the spacing between the snakes scales whereas, on the standard you could only see the outline of the scales.

The bottomline is simply for those who can afford the cost of an HD television should definitely purchase one.

Extra Laptop Batteries Saved My Vacation

Monday, November 12th, 2007

I don’t normally take my laptop on vacation, but this trip involved a very long flight. Because I wanted to watch DVDs on the plane, I brought extra laptop batteries. For some reason, I felt I should recharge them when we reached our first hotel.

At our second hotel, they had lost our reservation. My husband couldn’t find the printout of our confirmation in his papers. So, I whipped out my laptop. I found the information saved on my hard drive and called the reservation company. They got it worked out in minutes and we got our room. I think I’ll be taking my laptop along in the future.

Keep Your Memories Alive From Your Video Recorder

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

You may have noticed that the price of video recorders has fallen to an almost laughable cost. This is without doubt because so many people are switching from video to DVD format. Obvious advantages include the ability to edit footage easily if they are home movies, no loss of quality when copying as everything is recorded digitally, and of course the fact that a DVD takes up far less space than a video. But the main reason we are moving away from video recorders is purely for quality purposes. DVD’s provide a much better picture that won’t fade after being watched many times. But this doesn’t mean you can’t use that old video recorder that lurks in the hidden depths of the cupboards….
